Pick the Flooring Suitable to Your Budget and Use

By Ritu G.

Flooring is an important part of any home. It is the most used area indoors and has the most wear and tear.  So any homeowner will want a durable flooring and also that adds to the whole décor of the house. Also, it should be easy to clean and maintain.  In cold countries like Canada, winters can be harsh. The flooring can get cold and walking on it can bring shivers to people. To avoid this, people use flooring that does not get cold soon or even in floor heating is used to protect people from the cold.

Different Kinds of Flooring

There are various kinds of flooring that are recommended by the builders. These are a few of them that are commonly preferred by people.

  • Hardwood flooring
  • Laminate flooring
  • Vinyl flooring
  • Ceramic Tiles
  • Natural stone floors
  • Carpet

Variable Traffic and Use

  • Also, each room has different use and traffic. So depending on this, usually, the builders will recommend dividing the house into 3 key areas- kitchen, bathroom, and general living area. You can consider what kind of flooring suits these areas the best according to the traffic and use.

Regard Spills

The kitchen is a high traffic area. It has to be durable and should be able to clean it with ease. There can be spills on the floor and it has to bear the brunt of these. The flooring should be waterproof to avoid wearing away because of this. Also, these spills can cause it to be slippery bringing an added risk. So including all these aspects, the recommended flooring would be natural stone, ceramic tiles, or linoleum. Also wood already made water resistant with chemical treatment can be used for better maintenance, look, and durability.

Consider Humidity

Next is the bathroom. Here the moisture content is always high which needs consideration when picking the flooring. Can it be ceramic tiles or linoleum? Can you shop for vinyl flooring or hardwood flooring Vancouver or any other city? Will natural stone floor or laminate flooring be suitable? All this can be baffling. But the builder has a suggestion. Either ceramic tiles or natural stone makes for the best flooring in this area of high moisture- the bathroom.

Your Preference

Next comes the living area. Here your personal choice can be given preference or you can leave it on the budget as this plays an important role too. This can give you an idea of what flooring is the best for your home.
